All the appearing applicants are advised to go through complete examination pattern to know the important points such as No. of questions, type of questions, subjects, duration of the examination. Marking scheme, sectional weight and question paper format. Knowing the examination pattern is very helpful to strategies your preparation for the examination. It will also prepare the applicants mentally for the examination.

General details related to CDS Exam Pattern

  • The examination will be held through offline mode.
  • The applicants will get OMR sheets to mark their answers.
  • Only blue/black ball point pen will be allowed in the examination to mark the answers.
  • Partially filled or cross filled answers will not be entertained for evaluation.
  • The applicants have to carry their admit cards to write the examination.
  • The applicants will get 1 mark for each correct answer.
  • There will be a penalty of 1/4th marks for each wrong answer.
  • If you left any questions unanswered then that will not be taken into consideration for the penalty of the wrong answer.

Few general information related to CDS Exam Pattern

  • The question paper will be provided in the form of a booklet.
  • There will be 4 different sets of question papers.
  • The question paper will have 3 sections- English, Elementary math & General knowledge.
  • The questions will be asked from 11th & 12th standard level.
  • The question will be of MCQ type.
  • The applicants will be given 4 options for each question and they will have to choose one correct answer out of 4 options.
  • The question paper will be of 100 marks & the duration of the exam will be of 2 hours.
  • The total no. of marks will be 200 for CDS examination.
