IBPS PO Exam Pattern: For the recruitment of Probationary Officer / Management Trainee in the public sector banks, IBPS will release the notification. The application form of IBPS PO will be released online. The exam will take place in two phases that are Preliminary and Main Examination. Eligible applicants who want to get appointed as PO in public sector banks need to fill the application form via online mode only. IBPS PO Exam Pattern will help the candidates in getting familiar with the total marks, time duration, number of questions, number of sections, etc. As provided by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) we have provided here the IBPS PO Exam Pattern.
Details of IBPS PO Exam Pattern
- Both the Exam, Pre and Mains Examination will be held online.
- The Pre Exam of IBPS PO is of total 100 marks
- The Main Examination of IBPS PO is of total 200 marks.
- The total marks allotted for Interview is 100.
- The Pre Exam of IBPS PO will be qualifying in nature.
- While preparing the merit list along with the marks of the Interview the marks obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination of IBPS PO will be taken into consideration.
- The candidates will be given final allotment in any of the participating organizations that secure higher in the order of merit.
- The questions that are being asked in the IBPS PO Online Preliminary Examination is to test the basic knowledge of the candidates. In IBPS PO Main Examination, the questions are formulated to test the holistic approach of the candidates.
IBPS PO– Different stages
Online Preliminary Examination:
- This is the first stage for selecting candidates.
- The Test will be held online where the candidates will be tested on the basis of their performance in three sections namely as English Language, Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude.
- The Preliminary examination will have three sections.
- The total number of questions asked in the exam will be 100.
- There will also be negative marking for every wrong answer which will be equivalent to ¼ of the correct answer.
- Every question will carry 1 mark.
- The total marks will be 100.
- There will also be section-wise cut off as well as the overall cutoff.
- The candidates will get 1 hour to solve the 100 questions.

Online Main Examination:
- Now the candidates will have a definite time-frame for each section.
- The Main Exam will consist of 5 sections.
- There will be 200 questions asked in the examination.
- The test will be of the total of 200 marks.
- Every question will carry 1 mark.
- There will also be negative marking for every wrong answer which will be equivalent to ¼ of the correct answer.
- There will also be section-wise cut off and overall cutoff.
- There will be sectional timings for each section.

Interview:
- The candidates will subsequently be called for an Interview who has been shortlisted in the main examination of IBPS PO.
- The total marks allotted for the Interview is 100.
- The minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).
- On the basis of scores obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination of CWE PO/MT-VI and Interview, the final score of candidates shall have arrived.
- The weightage (ratio) of CWE (Main exam) and interview will be 80:20 respectively.
- A candidate should qualify both in the CWE (Main) and interview and be sufficiently high in the merit to be shortlisted for subsequent provisional allotment process.
