IIT JAM 2024: JAM is organized on a national level by the IITs and IISc on a rotation basis. This examination act as the gateway for students to get admission in M.Sc (Four Semesters), Joint M.Sc.-PhD, M.Sc.-PhD Dual Degree, M.Sc.-M.Tech. & other courses. It is a computer-based exam conducted for 20 subjects offered by the participating IITs and IISc. IIT JAM score will be taken into consideration by the top reputed colleges & institutions like IITs & IISc etc. Only the merit list candidates can attend the counseling process and get admission. Eligibility Criteria

- Both Indian and Foreign Candidates can apply.
- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree.
- The General/OBC-NCL Category candidates, have to get at least 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying degree, without rounding off (50% aggregate for candidates who belong to the SC/ST and PWD Category Candidates).
- Candidates appearing in the final examination of their qualifying degree are also eligible for this entrance exam.

- If you want to apply for only one paper and you belong to the General or OBC category then you need to give the payment of Rs. 1500/-.
- If you are female and belong to SC or ST or PWD (male) then you need to give the payment of Rs. 750/-
- If you want to apply for both papers and belong to the General or OBC category then you need to pay the payment of Rs. 2100/- and all the candidates from SC or ST or PWD and females need to pay Rs. 1050/-

IIT JAM examination pattern
- The paper pattern will be different as per the courses opted by the students.
- The Exam Mode will be Online i.e. computer-based mode
- A total of seven papers will be organized for the JAM exam.
- The duration of the exam will be Three hours
- The exam will be in English only
- A total of 60 questions will be asked in the examination.
- The question paper will be of 100 marks.
- There will be negative marking only in Section A.

IIT JAM Counselling Procedure
IIT JAM counselling will be organized after the result announcement of the IIT JAM examination. The candidate who falls in the category of merit list will be only applicable to participate in the counseling session of IIT JAM 2024. The counseling session will be conducted within the second or third week of April 2024

The appearing candidates for JAM 2024 should check the syllabus thoroughly to get well prepared for the examination. There will be 7 papers in the JAM 2024 for numerous M.Sc, Dual Degree courses, and Ph.D. in Science.
- Geology (GG): Applied Geology, Economic Geology, Petrology, Mineralogy, Stratigraphy, Palaeontology, Structural Geology, Geomorphology, The Planet Earth
- Biological Sciences (BL): Mathematical Sciences, General Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology and Immunology, Basics of Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology
- Mathematics (MA): Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Group Theory, Vector Calculus, Differential Equations, Functions of Two Real Variables, Sequences and Series of Real Numbers
- Biotechnology (BT): This paper consists of Physics (18% weightage), Mathematics (18% weightage), Chemistry (20% weightage) and Biology (44% weightage), The syllabus for BT will be of 10+2+3 level.
