IACS Admission 2023: For admission to Integrated Bachelor’s – Master’s/Ph.D./ Integrated Master’s –program in Science and Ph.D. program in Autumn Semester, there will be an admission process managed by the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS). Established in the year 1876, IACS is one of the oldest institutes of Science Research in India situated at Jadavpur, Kolkata with 6 schools in total. The association invites applications for these programs on the official website which is iacs.res.in. The entrance tests for these programs are conducted in online mode. Eligibility Criteria
For Integrated Bachelor’s – Master’s Program in Science
- The candidates must be Indian Nationals.
- Passed 10+2 examination with first division or 60% or equivalent grade in both 10th and 12th level of exams.
- The minimum 50% in 10+2 examination is required for the candidates belonging to the reserved category with first division or equivalent grade in both 10th and 12th level of exams.
- The appearing candidates of 10+2 examination can also apply.
For Master’s / Integrated Master’s – Ph.D Programme
- The candidates must be of Indian nationality.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering is required to apply with a minimum first division in 10th and 12th class.
- A minimum of 60% or equivalent in Bachelor’s is required to apply.
For Ph.D Program in Autumn Semester
- The candidates must be Indian Nationals.
- A master’s degree with a minimum of 50% is required.
- The candidates must have qualified UGC NET / UGC -CSIR / GATE / JEST or equivalent national level examination.

Selection Process
- Integrated Bachelor’s – Master’s Programme: The candidates have to clear the UG Pre-Interview Screening Test (UPST).
- Master’s / Integrated Master’s – Ph.D. program: The candidates have to clear the Master’s Pre Interview Screening Test (MPST).
For Integrated Bachelor’s – Master’s Program in Science
- There are multiple-choice questions in the exam
- The test will have questions from various section such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science/ Biological Science
For the Ph.D Program in Autumn Semester 2023
- The authority will also consider the candidate’s past academic records.
- Then it considers the performance in UGC NET / UGC -CSIR / GATE / JEST.
- Later on, it considers the performance of the candidate in the written test and interview.
Seats and Stipend
Seats for Master’s / Integrated Master’s – Ph.D. Programme
- For the candidates who qualify the written test as well as the interview, almost 30 seats will be available.
Stipend for Master’s / Integrated Master’s – Ph.D. Programme
- The selected students will be given a stipend of Rs 12,000 per month in the first two years of the programme.
- The candidates will be then considered for the Ph.D. programme after completing the masters.
IACS Admission 2023: Important Points
- UPST is a UG Pre-Interview Screening Test for the candidates who are willing to take admission in Integrated Bachelor’s-Master’s Program in Science.
- The candidates can apply for IACS Admission 2023 at iacs.res.in.
- MPST is a master’s pre-interview screening test conducted to take admission in the Master’s / Integrated Master’s-Phd Program.
- UPST and MPST are the computer-based tests.
