CLAT 2023: Common-Law Admission Test is a centralized examination that gets conducted for admission of eligible candidates to 21 National Law Universities in India into various Integrated Law Courses, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate courses. Eligibility Criteria

• Indian National candidates can apply.
• NRI/NRI Sponsored candidates can apply for those NLUs where such category is admitted.
• Foreign National candidates can apply directly to the concerned institutions.
• There will be no upper age limit to apply for UG Integrated & PG courses.

For UG Courses:

• Passed 10+2 examination from the recognized board with a minimum 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST categories).

For PG Courses:

• Passed LLB/5 years Integrated LLB (Hons.)/any other equivalent examination with a minimum of 55 % marks (50% marks for SC/ST categories).

CLAT 2023 Application Form

CLAT Application Form will be filled & submitted online only. Applicants can avail of the application form from the official site. The first step is to register them by creating a log-in an account using an E-mail ID. At the time of filling the application form, students were required to fill the preference order for NLU’s Uploading the scanned signature & photograph in the application form. Don’t send the hard copy of the application form to the authority office which is valueless, as mentioned above the application form will be submitted through online mode only.

Procedure to fill CLAT Application Form:

• You can fill the CLAT Application form through online mode only.
• Students must have a valid email id for the online registration.
• You are required to create a user id and password to upload the scanned copies of the document, Signature.
• Visit the CLAT official website.
• On the home page click on to the link in which Click Here For New Registration is mentioned.
• The registration page will open
• You are required to mention the name, email ID, and mobile number for the registration.
• Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated after filling in the asked details and uploading the required comments click on the submit button.
• The payment page will open.
• You need to pay the application form fee by using bank Challan or via Credit Card, Debit Card, or Internet Banking.
• After the successful registration, you will receive the confirmation e-mail or SMS at their registered mail ID and number.

• Candidates can pay the fee through credit card/debit card/net banking/pay wallet/RuPay, etc.
• The fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable.

Exam Pattern

For UG Courses

• The question paper comprises 200 marks.
• 1 mark for each correct answer will be awarded.
• There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong response.
• The duration of the examination will be 2 hours.

• 150 MCQ-type questions will be asked in the exam.
• The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
• 1 mark will be rewarded for each correct response.
• There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for each wrong response.

Cut Off

• The cutoff is the minimum score declared by the institute for the admission process.
• It is calculated considering multiple factors such as availability of seats, average marks scored in the test, difficulty level of the paper, and total test population.

CLAT 2023 Counseling

Candidate must indicate their NLUs preference online where they want to take admission. Via centralized counseling, admission to UG and PG courses in CLAT Counselling participating universities will be done. Based on the merit – cum – preference, the allocation of seats will be done.

Syllabus

English including comprehension

• This section will test the candidate’s proficiency in English.
• It will be based on comprehension passages and grammar
• The grammar section requires filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, etc.
• Candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc in the comprehension section.

Mathematics

• It will test the candidate’s knowledge of elementary mathematics.

Logical Reasoning

• This section includes a wide variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc.
• This section will test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments.
• However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

General Knowledge and Currents Affairs

• Current Affairs will test candidates on their knowledge of current affairs.
• General awareness including static general knowledge will be asked.

Legal Aptitude

• The legal aptitude will test the candidate’s interest in the study of law, research aptitude, and problem-solving ability.
• With the help of legal propositions, questions will be framed, and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied.
• Some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense.
• Candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.
